QuickBooks Pro/Premier 2013 Release 7 Still has problems with 3rd party apps

QuickBooks Pro/Premier 2013 Release 7 Still has problems with 3rd party apps. Initially, on 06/04/13 when Intuit released R7 as a manual update, it broke many 3rd party add-on apps.

A critical patch to the release with made available but only if you have auto-updates enabled (Help > Update QB > Options tab > Automatic Updates = “Yes”.

If you downloaded the R7 patch manually, turn on Automatic Updates and the critical patch should get installed. You can also click the “Update Now” from the “Overview” tab in the Update QuickBooks dialog.

How can you tell if the critical fix is installed? Press F2 to open the product info line. If the revision is “R7P+U(130606A)”, then you have the fix. If it is “R7P” by itself, or “R7P+U(121026B)”, you don’t have the critical fix.

The latest word is that there is still a problem for some 3rd party apps. If your 3rd party app is broken due to the R7 update, try the above steps. I f it is still broken after a computer restart, and your F2 screen shows “R7P+U(130606A), you are one of the lucky ones. A fix is still being investigated. There may be a manual fix that might work, check out:

If you are still affected, Charlie Russell’s blog would be a good place to keep checking back, as he, as a 3rd party developer is monitoring the situation closely.
